Delaware County is home to 13 public school districts and a variety of private schools, providing an array of options for education. The county is home to The Ohio Wesleyan University. Additionally, residents may access several institutions for higher learning in the region, including the astonishing 50 colleges and universities within a 50-mile radius of Columbus. Healthcare facilities in Delaware County include OhioHealth and Mount Carmel Lewis Center, in addition to the many healthcare options in the Columbus area.

Delaware is famous for The Little Brown Jug, an internationally known harness race held at the Delaware County Fairgrounds horse racetrack since 1946. Alum Creek State Park and Delaware State Park attract millions of local, national, and international visitors to the area each year. Three major rivers run through Delaware County from north to south; these waterways include the Scioto River, Olentangy River, Alum Creek and the Big Walnut Creek. The Alum Creek Lake and the Delaware Lake are reservoirs formed on Alum Creek and the Olentangy River, respectively.
